Vincent Massey Academy ("VMA") is dedicated to nurturing curious, compassionate, and confident learners. Since 1985, VMA has been serving families in the Etobicoke community by providing high-quality, holistic education in environments designed to foster inquiry, creativity, and meaningful connections.
Our Day School program offers a personalized educational experience for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Through small class sizes and a Reggio-inspired, inquiry-based approach, our teachers are able to build strong relationships with each student and tailor instruction to their individual strengths and interests.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Ontario Certified Teacher ("OCT") to join our team in a full-time, one-year contract position, with the potential for a permanent role upon successful completion of the contract. This position offers the opportunity to work across any of our classrooms from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6, depending on the candidate’s strengths, experience, and the evolving needs of the school.
As part of a collaborative and supportive teaching team, the successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic learning environment that values curiosity, creativity, and student voice. The OCT will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated instruction aligned with the Ontario curriculum, while embracing VMA’s inquiry-based, student-centered approach to learning. Teachers at VMA are encouraged to design meaningful learning experiences that integrate multiple subject areas and foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world connections.

What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Implement inquiry-based and experiential learning opportunities that promote curiosity and critical thinking
- Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative strategies
- Create structured lessons plans and supplemental materials for any absent teaching days
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and valued
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and learning goals
- Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and school initiatives
- Support the social-emotional development and well-being of students
- Contribute to the broader VMA community through school events, projects, and initiatives
- Uphold and promote VMA’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions
What You'll Need
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from an accredited institution
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in Good Standing
- Primary/Junior qualification (preferred) or Junior/Intermediate qualification
- Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers with Good Standing
- Primary/Junior teaching qualification is considered a strong asset
- Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience to students at the Primary-Junior/Intermediate level
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to create engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience integrating educational technology (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, SMART Board, SeeSaw, etc.)
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR C with AED certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
Target Hiring Range
Placement on the VMA faculty salary grid is determiend based upon years of applicable teaching experience, level of education completed, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The grid rages from $55,520-68,205 for up to 6 years of applicable experience.

Compensation
$55,250.00 - $68,205.00 per year
