The Opportunity
We are seeking an Occasional Teacher to join our team, providing instructional support for all classes as needed throughout the school year. The ideal candidate is a flexible, adaptable, and creative educator who thrives in a dynamic school environment. They will be able to step into a classroom with confidence, maintain continuity of learning, and foster a safe, positive, and engaging atmosphere for all students.
What You'll Do
- Deliver engaging and structured lessons, following provided lesson plans or creating supplemental materials when required
- Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment that supports individual student growth and development
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students
- Support the social-emotional well-being of all students in your care
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure a smooth transition and consistent classroom routines during teacher absences
- Uphold and promote VMA’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions
- Ensure communications and actions reflect professionalism and integrity
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's Degree, or higher, from an accredited institution
- Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers with Good Standing
- Primary/Junior teaching qualification is considered a strong asset
- 1 year of teaching experience to students at the Primary-Junior level
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt quickly in a variety of teaching situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Proficiency with educational technology (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, SMART Board, SeeSaw)
- Belief in VMA's mission, vision, and values
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR C with AED certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
